Customer Success Manager resume do's and don'ts
- Do: Lead with retention and revenue: “Grew net revenue retention to 118 percent across $9M in ARR.” Don't: List duties without results: “Responsible for managing customer accounts and renewals.”
- Do: Name your CS stack — Salesforce, Gainsight. ATS keyword matching is literal. Don't: Write “various CRM and success tools” and expect the parser to guess what you used.
- Do: Show retention and expansion, not support: NRR, churn reduction, upsell revenue, QBRs. Don't: Frame the role as answering tickets — that reads as support scope, not customer-success scope.
- Do: Quantify the book of business: ARR managed, retention and renewal rates, churn, expansion dollars. Don't: Claim customers were “happy” or “well-managed” with no metric attached.
- Do: Spell out the acronym once: “net revenue retention (NRR)” and “quarterly business review (QBR).” Don't: Keyword-stuff — repeating “customer success” twenty times reads as spam to reviewers and engines.
