Marketing Manager resume do's and don'ts

  • Do: Lead with pipeline and revenue impact: “Increased marketing-sourced pipeline to $4.2M.” Don't: List activity without outcomes: “Responsible for running email and social campaigns.”
  • Do: Name your exact martech stack — HubSpot, Marketo, Google Analytics, Google Ads. ATS matching is literal. Don't: Write “various marketing platforms and analytics tools” and hope the parser fills in the blanks.
  • Do: Show full-funnel ownership: demand gen, SEO, paid, email, and the metrics that connect them to revenue. Don't: Frame the role as posting on social — that reads as coordinator scope, not manager scope.
  • Do: Quantify with cost and conversion: cost per lead, CTR, conversion rate, MQLs, pipeline sourced. Don't: Claim campaigns “performed well” or “drove engagement” with no number attached.
  • Do: Spell out the acronym once: “search engine optimization (SEO)” and “conversion rate optimization (CRO).” Don't: Keyword-stuff — repeating “marketing” thirty times reads as spam to reviewers and scoring engines.
