Product Manager resume do's and don'ts
- Do: Lead with outcome metrics: “Increased 30-day retention from 54 percent to 71 percent.” Don't: List shipped features without impact: “Responsible for the mobile app roadmap.”
- Do: Name your frameworks and tools — RICE, Amplitude, SQL, Figma. ATS keyword matching is literal. Don't: Write “various analytics and prioritization tools” and expect the parser to infer them.
- Do: Show strategy and data, not a feature factory: user research, A/B testing, KPIs you moved. Don't: Frame the role as writing tickets — that reads as backlog-administrator scope, not PM scope.
- Do: Quantify impact: retention, activation, conversion, revenue or ARR, monthly active users. Don't: Claim a launch “was successful” or “delighted users” with no metric attached.
- Do: Spell out the acronym once: “key performance indicators (KPIs)” and “go-to-market (GTM).” Don't: Keyword-stuff buzzwords like “synergy” and “disruptive” — reviewers and engines discount them.
